Naveh signs West Bank settlement expansion orders

OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh signed expansion permits for four West Bank settlements, the army released for publication overnight Saturday. Israel Radio reported that the last permit was signed on Wednesday, and will allot Beitar Illit an additional 400 dunams (150 acres), thereby connecting the settlement to Israel proper. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz approved the decision. Givat Ze'ev will be expanded by 60 dunams, while the settlements of Oranit and Maskiot also received authorization to expand.
