Netanyahu, Landau to hold joint press conference

The leading candidate for the Likud chairmanship, Binyamin Netanyahu, will hold a press conference Wednesday evening in Tel Aviv with MK Uzi Landau, who dropped out of the chairmanship race at the beginning of the week. Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin also endorsed Netanyahu Tuesday evening, and was expected to take part in the press conference. Many in the Likud believe that Landau quitting the race and throwing his support behind Netanyahu will increase the latter's chances to win, Army Radio reported. Meanwhile, sources in Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz' headquarters said Tuesday that Mofaz' main goal was to force Netanyahu into a second round of voting.
