Nisso Shaham: Kfar Maimon remarks were a faux pas

Lt.-Cmdr. Nisso Shaham, who was recently promoted to the post of Jerusalem deputy police chief, admitted Monday that on-camera remarks he made while briefing subordinates at a pre-disengagement demonstration in Kfar Maimon were a faux pas, Israel Radio reported. In an affidavit submitted by Shaham Sunday to the High Court of Justice in response to appeals against his promotion, the former Southern District Police chief expressed regret, saying that there was no justification for using such language. Shaham had ordered his subordinates to beat the congregated masses "with clubs, where it hurts, in the lower parts of the body," adding that "they should all burn."
