Noked chosen for judicial election committee

The Labor faction voted ten votes to nine to choose Labor MK Orit Noked as the party's representative on the judicial selection committee over MK Danny Yatom. Allies of Labor Chairman Amir Peretz united to defeat Yatom, who has been critical of Peretz. Labor threatened the coalition crisis two weeks ago when Prime Minister Ehud Olmert backed down from his pledge to give a slot on the committee to Science and Culture Minister Ophir Paz-Pines of Labor and instead gave it to his political ally, Interior Minister Roni Bar-On. The committee is in charge of selecting judges on Israel's Supreme Court.
