Olmert congratulates Hillary Clinton for appointment as US state secretary

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert congratulated US Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton for her recent appointment by President-elect Barack Obama in a telephone conversation the two held over the weekend.
In a statement released by the Government Press Office on Saturday, Olmert and Clinton spoke "at length" about various issues facing the Middle East. "The prime minister views Senator Clinton as a true friend of Israel," read the statement.
Clinton assured Olmert that she would "continue to act to bring peace and stability to the Middle East."
