First Sergeant Hananel Dayan-Meged, a tank driver who was cited as an outstanding soldier, who refused to shake Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz's hand some two weeks ago at a reception for outstanding soldiers, appealed the High Court of Justice Monday morning to be reinstated to his unit.
As a punishment for his actions, the soldier was expelled from his unit. A week and a half ago Meged had requested that Halutz publicly announce, within three days, that he committed no offense and that he be reinstated to his unit, otherwise he would appeal the High Court against the chief of staff's decision.
