Peretz blasts Netanyahu's socio-economic record

In his first response following Binyamin Netanyahu's victory in the Likud primaries, Labor Chairman Amir Peretz ripped Netanyahu's economic policies while serving as finance minister. "Netanyahu's election as Likud chairman proves that only the Labor Party offers a real alternative to the socio-economic policies of the government," said Peretz Tuesday morning. According to Army Radio, Peretz added, "The Sharon Party and the Likud are responsible for the destruction of Israeli society. Sharon and Netanyahu were full partners in as far as the budget cuts, and led an irresponsible policy whilst being fully aware that the weaker and middle classes would be the ones to pay the price.
