Police ban PA event in east Jerusalem

Jerusalem police on Saturday barred an east Jerusalem event which was organized and sponsored by the Palestinian Authority, police said. The event, which was slated to take place at an east Jerusalem theater and was funded by the PA, was banned by order of the Internal Security Minister, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The participants, who tried to hold the event elsewhere in east Jerusalem, were dispersed by police, he said. According to the now-moribund Oslo Accords, Palestinian political activity in Jerusalem is forbidden.
