Police bar east Jerusalem procession protesting IDF op in Gaza
By ETGAR LEFKOVITS
Jerusalem police on Monday barred hundreds of Arab residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya from holding a procession out of their village against the Israeli offensive operation in Gaza, police said.
There were no injuries reported in the early-evening incident, and the residents returned to their neighborhood after police turned them back, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
Violent anti-Israel stone-throwing protests among Arabs residents of east Jerusalem over the last ten days have largely petered out, but tensions continue to simmer in the area.
