Police recommend Tax Authority head stand trial

Police recommended Tuesday that Israel Tax Authority (ITA) head Jacky Matza stand trial, along with his predecessor Eitan Rub, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's bureau chief Shula Zaken and her brother, Yoram Karshi. Matza and Rub are suspected of accepting a bribe from Karshi in exchange for political appointments in the authority and tax breaks for private businessmen. Karshi, a Likud member of the Jerusalem City Council, is suspected of using his ties to Tax Authority officials and his sister to influence appointments in the authority.
