Police reject claim that they are leaking details of Olmert investigation

The police adamantly rejected on Sunday the claim that they were purposely leaking to the media details of the ongoing investigation against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "Israel Police views with severity any attempt to attribute leaks of the investigation of the prime minister to its members," a statement issued by the police read. "The investigation team, led by Police Fraud Unit head Lt.-Cmdr. Shlomi Ayalon, is doing its work in a professional and responsible manner, far away from public attention, for the purpose of achieving a true investigation," the statement continued. "We are troubled by the conduct of other parties, who are finding out details of the investigation and passing along those details and developments out of different interests, in order to divert attention to other irrelevant issues."
