Insp.-Gen. Moshe Karadi ordered the police on Sunday to increase its presence during the weekends at popular recreation spots.
The decision came after a violent weekend in which three youths were wounded in a fight involving gunfire outside of a club.
Karadi said that the solution to Israel's violence problem was systemic and long-term, Israel Radio reported.
