Prisoner on furlough threatens to blow himself up

Special Police and Prison Service forces surrounded a home in Petah Tikva Tuesday afternoon after a prisoner, who had gone on furlough, refused to return to jail and threatened to blow himself up inside his own home using gas balloons. The Prison Service elite "Masada" hostage rescue unit together with the Police Negotiations Unit were at the scene in an attempt to persuade the prisoner, who is currently serving an 13-year sentence for armed robbery, to give up and leave the house.
