Rosenstein gives up fight against extradition

Crime boss Ze'ev Rosenstein on Monday gave up his court battle against his extradition to the United States. He will soon be flown to the US to stand trial over his alleged drug trafficking offences. Rosenstein's lawyers declared that they would not be appealing the District Court's ruling that the extradition order remained valid. His lawyers had claimed that the order had expired, since Rosenstein had been in custody for an excess of 60 days since the decision by the High Court of Justice. The appeal failed however, because the District Court ruled that the period is only counted from the day that the HCJ's ruling comes into effect. In Rosenstein's case, the 60 days have not yet transpired.
