Sharon: Israel won't interfere in PA vote

MKs leaving Monday morning's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting said that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon noted that Israel would not assist in the upcoming Palestinian elections, but neither would it stop them or interfere with them in any way. According to MKs, Sharon said that if Hamas was allowed to run in the elections, Israel would not hold joint meetings with the Palestinian Authority. Hamas was planning to contend in the upcoming PA elections, and Israel has in the past voiced its disapproval of allowing the terror-linked organization to play a role in leading the PA.
