Survey: 50% of Israelis support hametz law

About 50% of the public in Israel supports the hametz law which forbids businesses to publicly exhibit hametz products during Passover, a survey conducted by the Marketing Information research institute showed. According to the survey, not only religious Jews support the law but secular Jews as well. In fact, about a quarter of secular Jews said they were vary much in favor of the hametz law. Furthermore, the survey shows that support of the law includes support of its enforcement. Almost half of the public (47%) believes that it is important that the hametz law is vigorously enforced while 29% are of the opinion that it is not important at all. Among secular Jews, 19% believed that it is important that the law be vigorously enforced.
