Histadrut head says both sides have begun discussing details, no need for PM to intervene.

Negotiations between the Secondary School Teachers Organization and the government are progressing, Histadrut Labor Federation head Ofer Eini said Wednesday.
According to Eini, who has been serving as a mediator in an attempt to bring about an end to the high school teachers strike, now in its 38th day, "both sides - [SSTO head] Ran Erez and the Treasury - have gotten serious, and began discussing details in hopes of reaching one deal or another."
Eini said that in his opinion, there was no need for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to intervene in the talks.
"The finance minister is in the picture, the education minister is in the picture. It depends on both sides. If they both want an agreement that benefits the teachers, there's nothing preventing it," Eini said.
"We need to meet today and tomorrow… we can reach our goal. In my opinion, intervention by the prime minister wouldn't change anything," he added.
