TAU students protest against dental school closure

Students at Tel Aviv University demonstrated Tuesday against the imminent closure of the university's dental school. The demonstration took place in advance of the meeting between Education Minister Yuli Tamir and university President Itamar Rabinowitz, which was scheduled for Wednesday. The students called upon the Minister to find a solution to the budget cuts threatening the closing of the school. The students warned that if steps towards finding a solution were not taken, they would go on strike beginning next week. In response, the university spokesperson said that the university was interested in keeping the school open, but that this could not come at an expense of an overall university budget deficit.
