At least three Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Thursday as the IDF returned to operate deep inside the Strip after a nearly three-week break, in which Egypt continued its efforts to mediate a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Backed by tanks, troops from the Givati Brigade's Zabar Battalion swept into the central Gaza Strip early Thursday morning in search of terror infrastructure near Khan Yunis. According to the IDF, the soldiers encountered gunmen during the operations and opened fire. At least three were killed and another three were also believed to have been hit during the exchanges. None of the soldiers was injured. Meanwhile in the West Bank, security forces on Thursday caught an Israeli truck carrying 300 liters of potassium nitrate at the Tarkumiya crossing, northwest of Hebron. The IDF said the seizure was part of an operation to prevent the transfer of prohibited and dangerous substances, like potassium nitrate, that could be used to manufacture explosives.
