Toddler suffocates to death while on J'lem street

A one-and-a-half year old toddler choked to death on a plastic bag Wednesday on a Jerusalem street, police and rescue officials said. Attempts by Magen David Adom medics to resuscitate the toddler at a nearby health clinic failed, and he died at Jerusalem's Hadassah University Hospital at Mount Scopus. The child's nanny told police that she found him unconscious with the plastic bag on his head. Several haredim rioted at the entrance to the hospital after the toddler died, in protest over an expected autopsy, police said. Police are expected to press charges against the nanny for negligence.
