Two girls drowned Friday night in two separate incidents along Israel's Mediterranean coast. A nine-year-old girl drowned at an Ashkelon beach and was found lifeless over an hour later by police forces. The girl entered the water after dark in the Bar Kokhba Beach near Ashkelon. During search efforts police used the assistance of a helicopter. In a second incident in Rishon Letzion, a family from east Jerusalem was pulled in by the current. The father and three children managed to get out, but a fourth child - a 14-year-old girl - drowned. Her body washed up to the shore some time later. In both incidents, MDA teams alerted to the scenes tried to no avail to resuscitate the victims and pronounced them dead on the spot.
