British Ambassador Tom Phillips visited Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal at the Sderot municipality Monday afternoon. Phillips said that it was his third visit to see the situation in Sderot and that he felt sympathy with the plight of the town's inhabitants.
Phillips did not condemn the IDF attack in Gaza, and said only that Britian "hopes that Israel will act with restraint and avoid civilian casualties wherever possible."
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana are expected to visit the western Negev town later today. In the late morning the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee held its situation assessment in Sderot, with many of the committee's prominent MKs, including Ami Ayalon, Zvi Hendel and Yisrael Hasson.
