A 29-year-old man was in moderate condition Saturday after he was robbed, stabbed and left to die in a forest near Ofakim overnight, allegedly by a friend of his.
On Friday evening, Beersheba police received notice that the man had been missing since the morning. When it became clear that a burnt car that had been found earlier in the Ofakim area belonged to the missing man, police began intensive searches for him.
The man's family told investigators that he had gone to meet with one of his friends in Ofakim prior to disappearing. Police brought the friend in for questioning, and after a lengthy interrogation, he confessed to have abducted the young man, along with an accomplice, and then to have robbed him, stabbed him, burnt his car and left him in the woods to his fate.
The friend then led police to a forest clearing where the missing man was found, approximately 24 hours after he first disappeared, in moderate condition. He had suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body, and was rushed to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.
Police were searching for a second suspect in the crime.
