Zahalka, Barakeh blast Bar-On's e. J'lem decision

MK Jamal Zahalka (Balad) on Tuesday morning blasted the comments made by Internal Minister Roni Bar-On, in which he said he intended to revoke the permanent residency status of senior Hamas officials living in east Jerusalem. Zahalka said that the "Israeli occupation is what needs to leave east Jerusalem". Head of the Hadash party Mohammad Barakeh also criticized Bar-On's decision, saying it "reflected the occupier's arrogance and not a proper administration." MK Arieh Eldad (National Union) supported the move, and called upon the government to put senior Hamas officials on trial. Eldad added, "If membership with the [Hamas] organization is a criminal offense, why aren't members of the Palestinian parliament standing trial and serving time in prison?"
