The Jewish Agency for Israel at the end of its Board of Governors meeting in Buenos Aires on Thursday announced the establishment of a new fund strengthening ties with young Jews in Latin America.
The Jewish group allocated one million dollars towards the “Fund for the Jewish Future” that will help will create Birthright alumni projects, longer-term Israel experience programs like MASA and other "repair the world" programs in that part of the world.
"The fund is a new model developed by the Jewish Agency where the local community finances the Israel experiences for the members of their own community," said JAFI Chairman Natan Sharansky.
The Jewish Agency held its Board of Governors outside Israel for the first time in over a decade with the aim of strengthening ties with Jews living in Latin America.
