An assault on four subway riders during Hanukkah is being investigated as a possible hate crime, New York police said Tuesday.
Two men and two women were approached by another group who yelled anti-Semitic remarks and assaulted them on a train in Manhattan on Friday night, police said.
Police responding to the attack arrested 10 people, ages 19 to 20. Prosecutors said they are charged with third-degree assault and menacing, second-degree riot and harassment, and disorderly conduct.
Police said the subway riders had bruises and welts on their faces and heads but were not hospitalized.
