By JPOST.COM STAFFLetter in the Torah is a new and unique project intended to unite Jewish surfers from Israel and around the world with the aim of funding the writing of a Sefer Torah by purchasing a Torah letter over the Internet.
Throughout the project, a Torah will be written by a Torah scribe, and later be donated to IDF soldiers through the Friends of the IDF (FIDF). The Torah will be donated and entered into one of the synagogues of the IDF in a dignified event.
In addition to the Torah writing, a share of project revenues will be donated to the FIDF, starting with the first letter sold on site. Each Letter in the website is sold for an amount of NIS 18 or $4 per letter.
The purpose of the project, among other things, is to bring the Mitzvah of writing the Torah closer to each and every one and to make it more available to the general public and not only those who are familiar with it. Presenting the Torah over the Internet makes it closer and more approachable to a new audience - wide and young.
