At 10:00 am on Monday morning, a siren will be sounded from the premises of the Jewish Communal Centre at 87 Hatfield Road, in Cape Town, South Africa for a duration of two minutes.
The siren will be switched on by Mr. Meno de Jong of Cape Town, a Holocaust survivor, and will be sounded at precisely the same time that it is sounded in Israel.
Since last year, 2006, the siren is sounded annually in Cape Town by the Jewish Community in solidarity with Israel and with the Jewish people throughout the world on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Day.
