Likud MKs rally for their man

Eight out of the 12 Likud Knesset members, including leader Binyamin Netanyahu, made the trip from Jerusalem to Haifa this week to show their support for Likud mayoral candidate Rami Levy in the coming municipal elections, reports www.mynet.co.il. And Netanyahu told a packed convention center that Levy was an "experienced and talented" person who could bring great improvements to Haifa. According to the report, as well as bringing most of the current Likud contingent in the Knesset to Haifa, the rally brought out several former MKs and big names such as former IDF general Uzi Dayan. MK Moshe Kahlon, who heads Levy's campaign headquarters, said he believed in Levy as mayor and the Likud party in the council. Levy himself said his aim was to halt the emigration of young people from the city. Nine candidates in all are competing for the mayor's position in Haifa, including current mayor Yona Yahav, who was elected in 2003.
