Herzliya will finally award its "Herzl Prize" for 2007 to music scholar Eliyahu Hacohen - known as the "high priest" of academic research into the history of Israeli songs - in a ceremony that has been delayed since Hacohen was severely injured in a car accident some months ago, according to a municipal press release.
The presentation was supposed to take place in May, but the scholar was severely injured just a few days before the ceremony, and has spent the subsequent months in recovery and rehabilitation.
Hacohen was born in 1935 in Tel Aviv and is known for his research into the origins of numerous classic Israeli songs, including the national anthem "Hatikva."
