Tel Aviv's Magen David Adom ambulance service is considering offering a first-aid course to the city's prostitutes after four men died of heart attacks last year during encounters in brothels, reports Yediot Tel Aviv.
An MDA spokesman said that in 2007, paramedics had been called to dozens of incidents of men suffering from heart failure while in the act in brothels, four of which proved fatal. The report said that most heart attacks occur during times of stress or during physical activity, and doctors emphasize that speedy medical care is essential. "If any of the workers (in the brothels) had known how to perform first aid, lives could have been saved," the MDA spokesman said.
