A car bomb struck a Sunni Muslim television station in Baghdad on Thursday, killing the assistant director and wounding 12 others, the political party that owns the station said.
The attack against the Baghdad TV station occurred at about 1:30 p.m. when a parked car exploded in front of the station in Baghdad's western neighborhood of Jami'a.
The station's assistant director, Thaer Ahmed was killed in the attack and 12 employees were wounded.
"This aggression is not the first against this free voice. There was a mortar attack last year that left several people wounded and before that some of the station's employees were detained and are still in the jails of the occupation and the government," it said.
Ahmed, the assistant director who was killed in the blast, told The Associated Press in July that Baghdad TV "represents the point of view of Iraqis in general, and we report the suffering of Iraqis, whoever they are."
