6 Lebanese charged with collaborating with Israel

Lebanese judicial officials said that a military prosecutor has charged six people with collaborating with Israel. Under Lebanese legal jargon, collaboration often means spying - a crime punishable by death in Lebanon. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with judicial regulations, said the suspects were charged Wednesday. They include a police staff sergeant but it is unclear if all the six are Lebanese. Israel and Lebanon regularly engage in an espionage tug-of-war, cracking down on one another's alleged spying rings. The charges come after Lebanon recently announced the arrests of at least 14 suspects accused of spying for Israel. It's not known if the six are part of that group.
