Abbas calls for ouster of Hamas gunmen who control Gaza

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on Thursday for the ouster of Hamas who seized control of the Gaza Strip in June. "We have to bring down this bunch that took over Gaza with armed force, and is abusing the sufferings and pains of our people," Abbas said in a speech in Ramallah. Abbas spoke in the wake of this week's massive rally by his Fatah movement in Gaza. The gathering ended in violence, with Hamas security forces opening fire, leaving eight civilians dead and dozens wounded.
