Arab League chief hopeful Lebanon will form national unity Cabinet soon

The head of the Arab League expressed hope Sunday that a new national unity government could be formed soon in Lebanon.
Amr Moussa spoke to reporters after talks with Western-backed Prime Minister Fuad Saniora and top leaders from the Hizbullah-led opposition. The talks focused on attempts to form a national unity Cabinet in line with an Arab League-brokered agreement that ended Lebanon's 18-month political stalemate.
Under the deal reached by Lebanon's political factions in Doha, Qatar last month, former army chief Michel Suleiman was elected as president on May 25.
Suleiman asked Saniora on May 28 to form a new Cabinet, but the majority and the opposition have been unable to agree on the distribution of key ministerial portfolios.
