Arabic paper: Egypt's attempts to broker cease-fire in Gaza frozen

Egypt's attempts to broker a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been frozen, the London-based Arabic daily Al Quds al-Arabiye reported Friday.
The newspaper quoted a senior Egyptian source as affirming that the mediation had stopped. However, the same source said he expected Egypt to renew its involvement in the peace process next week at a meeting in el-Arish.
The source added that Egypt was concerned that Israel would undermine its attempts to bring about a cease-fire in the Strip.
