Armed gunmen take over Gaza office, demanding jobs

A group of armed gunmen took over the governor's office in northern Gaza on Tuesday, taking up position inside the building and demanding jobs. Between 20 and 30 gunmen from the Al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigades - a militant group with ties to the ruling Fatah party - took position on the building's roof and balconies, witnesses said. Palestinian security forces were on their way to the area. The takeover was the latest sign of lawlessness in the Gaza Strip, where armed men have repeatedly taken over government buildings and kidnapped foreigners to pressure the leadership to give them jobs and incorporate them into the Palestinian Authority security forces.
