“Hezbollah has declared an escalation in what it has referred to as 'Al-Asaf al-Ma'qul: Reasonable Regret' without considering the deadly consequences of the grave sin they committed,” said IDF Arabic spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Waweya in a video statement Wednesday.
The statement came before IDF strikes near Beirut targeted Hezbollah headquarters and command centers overnight on Thursday.
“While Dahiyeh burns, Hezbollah continues its crimes against the Lebanese people,” she continued. “Not only has it turned civilians’ homes into rocket warehouses and human shields with cold blood, but its rockets are also falling on the heads of the Lebanese themselves.”
Hezbollah terrorists launched over 100 rockets towards northern Israel in a single barrage on Wednesday night, according to a security source.
The terror group joined the US-Israel-Iran war following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, after having opted out of June’s 12-day war.
Dahiyeh turning to ‘ghost town’
The IDF has intensified strikes in Dahiyeh, a suburb south of Beirut, now turning to a “ghost town” following mass evacuations of Hezbollah supporters. The area houses multiple command centers used by Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to the IDF.
Waweya said that the strikes in Dahiyeh are aimed at uprooting the “Iranian killing machine that the organization has planted within the heart of the civilian population,” and assured that Hezbollah is willing to sacrifice Beirut for the “agenda of the mullah regime.”
She called on every Lebanese citizen near Hezbollah operatives or terror sites to evacuate immediately, citing the military’s intention to continue to operate to dismantle the terror group.
“Full responsibility lies with those who enslave this state to external illusions,” she said.
