Despite windy weather, Palestinians lit up a Christmas tree in Bethlehem's Manger Square on Thursday. Few tourists were on hand as town officials flicked the switch to light up the tree decorated with ornaments from the Czech Republic. Strings of lights hung from electric poles and in shop windows. "We hope this Christmas will be a good one," said Rafiq Husseini, a top aide to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, at the event. In reaction to the car bomb, he said "We will not let anything destroy our peaceful existence in this town."
