Egypt: Small plane crash kills 2 on Mediterranean coast

A small plane crashed in a rural area along Egypt's Mediterranean coast Tuesday, killing both men aboard, officials said.
The two-seat Beech-90 plane went down as its pilot, Mohammed Abu al-Etta, prepared to land in Port Said, the local governor said. Port Said lies near the mouth of the Suez canal, on the Mediterranean Sea.
Governor Mustafa Kamel said el-Atta and trainee Ashraf Shukri were both killed in the crash, and their charred bodies were retrieved from the crash site.
He said authorities were reviewing recordings of a distress call the plane sent out before the crash.
Civil aviation authorities confirmed the crash, and also said an investigation was under way.
