Egypt takes in first wounded from Gaza

Egypt is taking in wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Ambulances ferrying the wounded are heading from Gaza toward the border crossing at Rafah where over a dozen Egyptian ambulances are waiting. By mid-afternoon Monday, one Egyptian ambulance drove up to the terminal and took over a wounded Palestinian, who lay wrapped in a blanket on a stretcher. An Egyptian paramedic says he was told Egypt would take about 20 to 30 Palestinian casualties to the hospital in the Sinai town of El-Arish. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to talk to the media. Earlier Monday, Egypt allowed trucks with food and medical supplies to pass through its border crossing with the Gaza Strip.
