Egypt's president to meet Obama in US in May

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will visit the United States on May 26-27 and meet with President Barack Obama, Egypt's state-run news agency announced Tuesday. It will be his first visit to the US in five years. Egypt had a strained relationship with the Bush administration over US criticism of the country's human rights record and treatment of political dissidents. The Obama administration has hinted it won't hinge its relationship with Egypt on human rights demands. Mubarak's visit will come shortly before Obama is scheduled to deliver a speech in Egypt on June 4 addressed to the Muslim world.
