Explosion rocks military weapons depot in Egypt

Egyptian security officials said a large explosion has rocked a weapons depot on a military base northeast of the capital. The officials said the explosion wounded a number of people but did not cause any fatalities. They did not know the exact number of injured or the cause of Sunday night's blast. They said it appeared to be an accident, not an act of terrorism. The military base is located far from civilian areas in Abu Sultan town in Ismailia governorate, which is about 120 kilometers northeast of Cairo. The officials said the military has closed off the area near the blast. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
