Hamas head Yousuf: Both sides must commit to truce

Sheikh Hassan Yousuf, head of Hamas in the West Bank and the organization's candidate for the Palestinian Authority parliament, in the first interview since his most recent arrest, called on all Palestinians factions to maintain the calm, or tahdiya. He noted that both sides need to remain commited to the cease-fire agreement reached in Cairo early this year.
Yousuf noted that it was "too early" to discuss Hamas joining the government.
However, Yousuf said that his group would consider joining the PA government if it would "serve the interests of the Palestinian people," Israel Radio reported.
"All our options are open," Yousuf declared.
He gave the interview, during which he refused to condemn Monday's suicide bombing that killed five people in Netanya, from his prison cell in Israel.
