Hamas vows to cancel law giving Abbas new powers

Hamas militants said Monday that 11th-hour legislation giving Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas sweeping new powers was "not legitimate." "We are going to work in order to cancel all the unconstitutional decisions," said Said Siyam, a Hamas legislator from Gaza. "This parliament has no mandate and no authority to issue any new legislation." The new legislation, Siyam said, "is not legitimate."
