By ASSOCIATED PRESSIran did not immediately react Tuesday to the decision by the five veto-casting powers of the United Nations to refer Iran's nuclear file to the Security Council.
At a London meeting that lasted into the early hours of Tuesday, envoys of Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States decided to call on the International Atomic Energy Agency to report Iran to the UN Security Council.
But they also decided that the Security Council should wait until March to take up Iranian nuclear file after a formal report on Tehran's activities from the atomic agency.
Iranian Foreign Ministry officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday. But the government is expected to be extremely displeased by the decision. Last week it sent Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, to Moscow and Beijing to seek support against the Western drive to refer Iran to the Security Council.RECOMMENDED STORIESAt least 70 wounded, two killed after four rounds of Iranian attack slam IsraelJUNE 12, 2025Israel trying to persuade US to join in continuing strikes on Iran, sources tell 'Post'JUNE 13, 2025Vacation ruse, phantom trip, hostage decoy: How Israel misled Tehran before Iran strikeJUNE 13, 2025Mossad leads series of secret attack operations in heart of IranJUNE 13, 2025
