Journalist, office director kidnapped by Hamas

Hamas gunmen on Friday kidnapped a veteran Palestinian journalist and the office director of a top Fatah official in Gaza, the latest tactic in the violent power struggle between the two sides. On Friday evening, Hamas gunmen seized Abdel Salam Abu Askar, a veteran journalist with ties to Fatah's Gaza strongman, Mohammed Dahlan. Later in the day, the office director of a senior Fatah leader in Gaza, Abdullah Franji, was also taken. In the past, the two sides have kidnapped dozens of rival fighters, but Friday's abductions targeted senior civilians with ties to Fatah.
