PA official: Ki-Moon's visit recognizes PA gov't

Palestinian Authority Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said Sunday that the planned meeting between UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon with certain PA officials was effectively a recognition of the PA unity government. In an interview to Radio Kol al-Arab, Barghouti called on the US to pressure Israel into negotiating for a final status agreement, and to "abandon its dreams" of making the security fence a permanent fixture. Barghouti said that under no circumstances would the Palestinians or other Arab states make changes to the 2002 Saudi peace proposal at US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's urging.
