Police find tortured bodies of 14 Arabs in Baghdad

The bodies of 14 Sunni Arabs who had been kidnapped from their homes in Baghdad by men disguised as policemen were found in the capital on Monday morning, authorities said. The victims, who were taken hostage in the mostly Sunni area of Dora of southern Baghdad on Sunday night, were found lying on a street in nearby Oreij, a mixed Sunni-Shiite neighborhood of the capital, said police First Lt. Ahmed Hamid. Ranging in age from 20 to 45, the men had been tortured and handcuffed, Hamid said. Bodies also were discovered in another area of the capital. At 10 a.m. in the mixed Iskan neighborhood in northwestern Baghdad, police found four bodies of men who had been tortured and shot, said police 1st Lt. Thayer Mahmoud. The identities of the victims were not known.
