Police, medical officials: Bomb kills head of Sunni group south of Baghdad

A bomb has killed the head of a US-allied Sunni group south of Baghdad, Iraqi police and medical officials said Sunday evening. A police officer said Ali Abdul Ridha al-Badri was the head of an awakening council in Iskandariyah, 30 miles (50 kilometers) south of Baghdad, and was killed after meeting with US forces. The officer added that the bomb was attached to Badri's car. The police and medical officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to talk to the media.
